Jerry Driessen is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Hennepin County, having been appointed to the role in May 2015. Mr. Driessen is responsible for leading the county’s technology strategy and managing the IT department as well as overseeing the IT community throughout all the lines of business.

His initiatives include improving service delivery through embracing effective and efficient use of technology; creating business models for delivering new services; promoting online development opportunities to increase self-service capabilities; and leading strategic initiatives to transform the technology department to be flexible, adaptable and responsive to customer needs.

Mr. Driessen has served Hennepin County for 15 years and has held multiple roles with both business and technology emphasis for the county. Before his appointment as CIO, he was the Director of Business Information for Hennepin County Public Safety. Mr. Driessen was also an IT division manager in charge of strategic information technology initiatives, which included the county’s eGov, Community Connectivity (fiber optics), and GIS initiatives. Prior to that he was an area director of juvenile services in the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation where he was responsible for three divisions including a county operated residential treatment center, a juvenile detention center, and a juvenile probation center.

Mr. Driessen has extensive experience in systemic change initiatives through his leadership with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee, and was instrumental in launching the Hennepin Justice Integration Program in 2005.

Mr. Driessen holds an undergraduate and graduate degree in Public Administration. He resides in Hennepin County.
