We have reached a period of time where IoT and big data are poised to play a significant role in improving the buildings in which we all work, live and play. Buildings consume upwards of 40 percent of the energy in the United States, and in commercial buildings, greater than 60 percent of that total can be attributed to heating, ventilation, air conditioning and lighting.
At the same time, the physical environment of a building greatly impacts the satisfaction, wellbeing and performance of its occupants, As such, Trane® believes buildings can a competitive advantage instead of a simply a cost by minimizing energy consumption, increasing occupant comfort, and/or stabilizing manufacturing conditions, based on the customer’s needs. This reduces waste and provides sustainability, resulting in higher performing individuals and businesses, and a greener environment.
Trane is leading the way in developing connected buildings, leveraging 100 years of buildings experience and innovative IoT technologies to improve building performance. Trane Intelligent Services is one such technology, taking data from disparate sources, analyzing it, and utilizing the results to drive changes in the building to meet customer requirements. In this presentation, we will provide examples of how we are using our technology and buildings expertise to deliver customer value. We will discuss some of the technical challenges that drive our solutions, and discuss descriptive and predictive analytics as it applies to connected buildings.
